2013 Novel Sales

-My year in publishing- I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a great new year. As I do twice a year, I post what I’ve sold/given away over the year (or previous six months in the case of posting in June). As I discovered over the year when putting books into Kindle Select, that it’s become really over-rated, even the Kindle Countdown idea could use a lot more work, since I couldn’t get that to work for me either. Free days work well in that I’m getting lots of downloads, but doesn’t seem to boost sales beyond that, or even net borrows from Amazon Prime Members. I guess that … Continue reading

My Interview With Smashwords

Here's an interview I did through Smashwords. If you'd like me answer other questions you have about me or my books to post to Smashwords, please leave a comment below this post and I'll do my best to answer them and include them with the rest of the interview. Thanks!   When did you first start writing? I first started writing when I was around ten years old. I thought up wacky interview questions for classmates, asking them to make up what planet they were born on, what fake person they would vote for President of the United States, what was their favorite time traveling vehicle, stuff like that. I … Continue reading

Book Launch: Keeper of Reign by Emma Right {Giveaway – $100 Amazon Gift Card!}

About the Book: Books written in blood. Most are lost, their Keepers with them. A curse that befell a people. A Kingdom with no King. Life couldn’t get more harrowing for the Elfies, a blend of Elves and Fairies. Or for sixteen-year-old Jules Blaze. Or could it? For Jules, the heir of a Keeper, no less, suspects his family hides a forgotten secret. It was bad enough that his people, the Elfies of Reign, triggered a curse which reduced the entire inhabitants to a mere inch centuries ago. All because of one Keeper who failed his purpose. Even the King’s Ancient Books, did not help ward off that anathema. Now, … Continue reading

Novel Sales For the Year So Far

Now that June is over with and it's half-way through the year, I'd like to share my sales stats for the year so far. I post this twice a year, and most of the promotion I do is through Facebook or Twitter (since I have a very small budget). Since the beginning of the year though, I've joined up with other Christian indie authors at sites like Crossreads to promote our books through Twitter, Blog Hops, and $.99 cent sales, and I think it helps tremendously. If I had a lot of disposable income, it would be interesting to see how well I'd do if I could afford Bookbub, Kindle … Continue reading

Sales for 2011

Now that I’m pretty sure I have all the sales numbers in for all platforms, I’d like to share how many novels I sold or had downloaded last year as an independent author, to give encouragement to those that aren’t sure they can do it. I’ve been doing this for about 4 years, 1 1/2 of which I’ve actually put any effort at trying to promote my novels, since I’ve written three in that time span. Last year, I sold or had D/L’s of 24,151, in 2010 – 520, 2009 – 68, and in 2008 – 37.  Here are the numbers for 2011 for each book and where, from first … Continue reading

My #Marketing Ideas

I have been an independently published author now for nearly four years, and not until 2010 did I really do any kind of promoting/marketing for my novels, mostly because I had no idea where to start. Since about late 2009, there have been all sorts of assorted experts in the field all over the internet who have popped up with a book on the subject, and if you buy their book, they’ll tell you what the secret is to selling thousands, or millions even, of books. I think what works for one author doesn’t necessarily work for another, so if you’re willing to waste $2.99 or $4.99 or $6.99 for … Continue reading
